Biography

​Popular New York based DJ; Jimmy C. professionally known as The Gent has been a mainstay fixture in some of New York's hottest night clubs such as VNYL, Squares, ACME, and Never Never to name a few. Outside of spinning some of New York's hottest destinations he has been seen in other world class cities such as Nyood (Toronto), Bar Marmont (West Hollywood) The Standard (LA), The Lord Gladstone (Sydney) and One Day Sunday's at The Factory(Sydney) . Jimmy has built a reputation for being a magnetizing DJ with an eclectic style that keeps crowds going until the early morning where celebrities from Cuba Gooding Jr., Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Hudson can be seen enjoying the dance floor. 

While maintaining residencies as a premier club DJ in New York's hottest venues The Gent has been featured in other media outlets including TV and Radio. He has been a guest DJ on Sway In The Morning and made an appearance playing DJ Kool Herc in the hit HBO show Vinyl.

Artistically as a DJ, The Gent has built a solid reputation as a hip-hop turntablist backing artist CharlieRED and working with hip-hop group We.Are.Not.For.Them(WANFT) on the independent Brooklyn based label Reservoir Sound. Through his work with CharlieRED he has worked with industry leaders Hot 97., BMI, and BET.

CharlieRED has opened up for grammy award winning artist Melanie Fiona and Marsha Ambrosius, while performing on bills amongst notable hip-hop artist Big KRIT and Maino. CharlieRED has performed in large venues through out the Northeast doing shows at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theater, New York's Le Poisson Rouge, SOB's, Highline Ballroom and The Knitting Factory.

​His work with We.Are.Not.For.Them has generated a strong buzz inside of Brooklyn's independent hip-hop scene regularly  featured in local blogs The Mad Bloggers, Bushwick Daily, and Scratched Vinyl. They have been regular features at shows through out the city playing Southpaw, Webster Hall, Public Assembly and Mercury Lounge.

Outside of being a DJ; The Gent has also made a name for himself as a curator of events as the founder of Famous In Bushwick. A multipurpose party that celebrates art, visual media, music and underground culture. His work with Famous In Bushwick has been written about in major publications; Paper Mag, The New Yorker, and VICE. He has already expanded on the idea doing pop ups in other major cities; Monroe(San Francisco) and The Lord Gladstone(Sydney, AU). Famous In Bushwick has been sponsored by major brands Corona, Espolon Tequila, and Viva Coco Water.
